Dr Neil Stone

Dr Neil Stone is a clinician scientist currently based at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London. Trained in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at St. George's, the Royal Free, St. Thomas' and University College Hospitals in London , he completed his PhD on the molecular mechanisms of emerging drug resistance in Cryptococcal meningitis at St. George's under the supervision of Dr. Tihana Bicanic. The project was funded by a  Wellcome Trust  Strategic Award and was performed  with the National Institute of Medical Research in Tanzania. He has authored or co-authored articles on Cryptococcal meningitis in journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation and Nature Microbiology with the St. George's Cryptococcal meningitis group and collaborators worldwide. Clinical and research interests include diagnosis and management of invasive fungal infection, the emergence of antifungal resistance, and tropical and travel related medicine in general.
